So What Tests Are Needed To Detect COVID-19

There are different test to detect the SARS-CoV-2, the particular strain that causes COVID-19. The other test is to detect the antibodies that our bodies’ produce as a natural response to this virus or after you get vaccinated

Viral Tests

A viral test is done to detect SARS-CoV-2. To perform this test a swab is normally taken from nose or throat region. The viral tests are of two types’ rapid tests and laboratory tests.

Rapid Point-of-Care tests

This test is used to detect SARS-CoV-2 infections in various point-of-care settings. It includes NAAT, antigen, or antibody tests.

Self-Tests

Test self-tests can be taken at home to detect the problem but are not considered accurate or scientific.

Laboratory Tests

The most accurate approach is the Lab test which can even take few days for RT-PCR and other types of NAATs.
